Hancock County COAD

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.

After getting a late start compared to past years due to warmer than normal November, we have been open 20 nights already. We have hosted 22 different guests, averaging 8+ per night. We had a high of 14 guests. There have been 57 different volunteers that have made this possible.

If the 45-day forecast holds, we will need to open every night for the entire month of January and into February. In past years we have opened a total of around 50 nights ALL SEASON!

It takes a minimum of 8 volunteers each night. Please consider joining our group. You would be with someone who has served before at the beginning.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us here or through our facebook page.

For the net two months our regular COAD/EMA Volunteer meetings will be devoted to hearing from those who have first hand, boots on the ground, experience being deployed. This should give us good insight into what we will experience when we get activated for a local disaster.

December 5 – Ty Hunt with Mercy Chefs

January 9 (note change from regularly scheduled date!) – several from Helene Milton deployments

7:00 PM – EOC 640 South Franklin, Greenfield

And more: Warming Center is open tonight. Net week we are heading into a long brutal stretch of weather through almost all of December. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help, let me know.

Reminder that the EMA/COAD volunteers are meeting this Thursday (11/7) at 7:00 PM at the EOC 640 South Franklin in Greenfield

We will have a representative from Ninestar and information from Duke Energy and Greenfield Utilities to help us understand how to better prepare for extended power outages. Come with questions.
