You are likely aware that Hancock County will be impacted by a total eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. Are you ready?
Do you have appointments across town or in other counties between 4/6 and 4/9?
Are you part of an organization with a large parking lot?
How’s your food supply? Extra cash on hand?
In past EMA/COAD meetings we have talked about situational awareness. This month on April 4th we will use the impending 4/8 eclipse as a real-life test of that skill.
We will play the “What if?” game and talk about plans in place for that day. We will also explore potential changes to those plans by outside forces. If your family has not talked through plans for that day this might be a good time to start that conversation. Regardless of the details, whether an additional 20,000 or an additional 80,000 people come to our community, things in Hancock County will not be normal.

Community Foundation of Hancock County, Greenfield Sertoma, Hancock Regional Hospital, Walmart Greenfield and others have been generous in their support of the COAD. Grants and donations received have funded the purchase of equipment and supplies for our trainings as well as those things needed for the warming center and for response when an emergency occurs.
However, as our capabilities and responsibilities grow, our cash requirements for general operating expense grows as well. Being an all volunteer organization makes conducting larger fundraisers a challenge.
Would you consider making a donation to our fund at the Community Foundation to cover these operating expenses?
