Triple Digit Temps are Possible Next Week

Depending on the app, forecast high temps for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are high 90’s to 102. Ninestar has reported that they have received notice from their network that there is a likelihood there will be rolling blackouts lasting hours or potentially days. Other utilities serving the area will be in the same position.

Here are five things you can do to be helpful to your friends and neighbors if we lose power:
1. If you are affiliated with one of our warming centers and would be able to open an air-conditioned room during the day, let me know.
2. If you would be willing to volunteer to spend some time with your neighbors (if necessary) in one of those cooling centers, let me know.
3. If you know of (or hear about) someone with required medical equipment let them know we have a few generators that could be used to keep that equipment running.
4. Reduce your usage during peak hours (2:00 – 8:00 PM)
5. Find this post on the COAD Facebook page and share it, spread the word every way you can.

If we are called on to open a cooling center and can staff it, we will post that notice on our web site and Facebook page and Hancock County Homeland Security will be aware of location.
