It takes 3 men and 3 women each night in order to open our warming centers this winter for those in Hancock County without adequate, safe heat. We need far more volunteeers. Please consider signing up for this class.
Salvation Army Shelter Volunteer Training
Participants will learn the principles of how to open, close, manage and select a site for a shelter.
Saturday, 10/16, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Lunch is included.

If you wish to become a fully credentialed disaster volunteer, completion of Safe From Harm, completion of Introduction to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, and a background check are required. Fortunately, Safe from Harm and the “Intro” course can be done online. This additional optional step would qualify you to serve under the Salvation Army umbrella in disaster scenarios, providing insurance and liability coverage.
